International Family Life Conference and World Congress of Families African Regional Conference – “Seizing The Future, Protecting The Family” in Nairobi, Kenya, May 11, 15-17
The Kenyan Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) in cooperation with the Kenyan government, the National Family Consortium, NGO’s and churches have organized a nearly week-long celebration in recognition of the importance of the natural family in Kenya and coinciding with the International Day of the Family, May 15. The various family celebrations will take place in Nairobi, Kenya with different events including a Women’s Dinner (May 11), a Family Life Conference (May 15-16) and a Family Life Symposium, which is a WCF Regional Conference (May 17).
The overall purpose of the International Family Conference 2018 is to build and empower the capacity of Family stakeholders for further promotion and protection of the family and to create young advocates in the world for the Family through interaction and intellectual investments with organizations from all over the world.
May 11, Deborahs’ and Esthers’ Women’s Dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel
This special dinner is not an official part of the conference, but is organized by the Kenya Christian Professionals Forum (KCPF) in partnership with the Kenyan Government and kicks off the week-long celebration of the family in honor of The International Day of the Family on May 15. It’s a by invitation only dinner for 300 women influencers. Those invited include the First Lady, the Wife of the Deputy President, women MPs, the wives of MPs, women governors and the wives of governors. The purpose of the meeting is to encourage and build collaborative efforts among women in position of responsibility to promote and protect the family unit and challenge them to champion the “Family Cause.” A KCPF/WCF Women’s Award in memory of the late WCF Kenyan leader, Dr. Margaret Ogola, will be presented at the dinner.
May 15-16 , International Family Life Conference at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre
The first lady of Kenya is confirmed as the guest of honor. This conference will cover all issues relevant to the family including the pandemics affecting it.
Objectives of the International Family Life Conference:
- To create a Youth Family Advocacy, mentorship and training program stemming from the conference.
- To engage Youth living with disabilities to also start engaging on life skills and Family under the Christian Approach.
- To engage the various stakeholders internationally including the government and citizens of Kenya in the push for the implementation of the National Family Protection and Promotion Policy.
- To establish further relationships with stakeholders like religious leaders, civil society and other actors working to advance family values.
- To create an environment where issues facing families in the world are well articulated and resolved.
Expected Outcomes of the International Family Life Conference:
- Implementation of the National Family Promotion and Protection Policy.
- New generational input in Family- Life Advocacy through creation of chapters for Family-life Advocacy in schools and universities.
- Better Family development and growth for people living with disabilities.
- Increased advocacy on family through publications, research, bills, policies and programs.
- Enhanced capacity of religious leaders and civil society organisations working to support family values.

May 17– Family Life Symposium WCF RegionalConference
The Family Life Symposium, a WCF Regional Conference (our third in Nairobi), will take place at CITAM (Christ Is The Answer Ministries) Valley Road Church, in Nairobi. It’s expected that 500 delegates will attend. Most of the delegates will be church ministers across denominations. There will be a modest registration fee. Register here.
The conference will focus on education, strategy and networking towards advocacy in the areas of the sanctity of life and natural family. It is organized by the KCPF (a WCF Partner) in conjunction with Kenyan churches. Theresa Okafor will speak on: “Cultural Imperialism in Africa: Reproductive Wrongs.” Feder will speak on “The Sexual Revolution and Demographic Winter.” Read more.
The Nairobi regional conference will also be attended by a number of African pro-life/pro-family leaders, among them Dr. Seyoum Antonios, with United for Life Ethiopia and Richard Matanda Ngunda, with Engage Now Africa.
President and Mrs. Kenyatta will be invited to speak at World Congress of Families XII in Moldova, September 13-16, 2018.
The government of Kenya is pro-life and pro-family, as are upwards of 85% of the people, as shown by various opinion surveys.
The Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, has spoken out strongly in support of the natural family and against changing the definition of marriage. In a recent interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, President Kenyatta said that gay rights is “not relevant,” as it “goes against the cultural beliefs of Kenyans.”

The conference comes against the backdrop of a court challenge to the nation’s anti-buggery (sodomy) law. The public needs to understand that this is only stage one for sexual radicals. If they achieve this goal, they’ll secure a beachhead. This will be quickly followed by gay rights laws, the institution of same-sex marriage and, ultimately, the persecution of Christians.
The Kenya Christian Professionals Forum (a World Congress of Family Partner) is a group of Christian professionals from various denominations, advocating on the thematic areas of Life, Family, Education, good Governance, Social justice and freedom of Religion. KCPF’s major partners are Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), National Council of Churches Kenya (NCCK), and Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK).
The National Family Consortium in Kenya is an affiliate program created by KCPF, which seeks to bring Family Advocacy organizations together for the purpose of promotion and protection of Family through legislation, policy, advocacy and work on the ground in Kenya. The consortium holds a value system that adheres to the Christian Faith, the Kenyan National culture and Article 45 of the Kenya constitution.
